New Swimmer Registration
We're thrilled you're interested in joining Olympians Swimming! We have two different paths for new members, depending on their previous swimming experience. Please read the options below to find the correct path for you.
New Swimmer Assessments
If you are new to competitive swimming, you must attend a New Swimmer Assessment. This is the crucial first step for all new swimmers and their families, designed to ensure a smooth and successful entry into our club. The assessments help us accurately place each swimmer in the most suitable group based on their age, skill, and commitment level.
During the 30-minute session, swimmers will be grouped with others of similar abilities to experience the swim club environment. The primary objective is to evaluate each swimmer's skills, including their comfort in deep water and their ability to perform basic strokes.
All registration and payment must be completed online through the Olympians Swimming website prior to the session. Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. No registrations or payments will be accepted at the pool.
Please read the following information carefully.
- Minimum Standards: For safety reasons, all registrants MUST meet the minimum standards for the assessment. Swimmers must be comfortable in deep water, able to swim with their face in the water, and capable of completing a minimum of 25 meters unassisted.
- Assessment Removal: Any swimmer who does not meet these minimum safety standards will be removed from the assessment session.
- Non-Refundable Fee: The registration fee of $20.00 is non-refundable.
Transferring Swimmers
If you have previous competitive swimming experience and if you can swim a 200m Individual Medley (IM) in under 4:00, you are not required to attend a New Swimmer Assessment. Please contact our registrar directly for group placement, noting your age, experience, committment level, and where you previously swam. Transfer Policy
Olympians Swimming Club is committed to maintaining positive and respectful relationships with other programs registered with Swimming Canada and do not actively recruit swimmers who are currently registered within these clubs.
If a swimmer currently registered with another Swim BC club expresses interest in transferring to Olympians, we expect the swimmer and their family to first make every effort to address and resolve any concerns or issues with their current club. Only if these efforts are unsuccessful will Olympians consider a transfer request. In such cases, our club will first reach out to the releasing club to inform them of the inquiry before proceeding with any discussion of group placement or initiating the formal transfer process.
All transfers are subject to the rules and regulations of Swim BC and Swimming Canada.
Please note that members of BCSSA (Summer Club) are not members of Swim BC or Swimming Canada and will not be required to adhere to the transfer policy.
